Top Community Events in Lodi
There are so many wonderful events every year in Lodi that it’s hard to choose our favorites! The top three highlights from 2015 include Zinfest
in May, where foodies, wine lovers, winemakers, and chefs all came together to share their passion for food and wine. Wine & Chocolate
weekend is always a favorite. This event combines two of the best treats on earth in one weekend of awesome winery tours and pairings. We had so much fun at this event last year and cannot wait for Wine & Chocolate Weekend
coming up February 13 – 14, 2016! The Sandhill Crane Festival
in November is another one of our treasured annual events in Lodi. Sandhill Cranes migrate to winter here in California each year and visitors can enjoy the spectacle of these elegant creatures. It is a truly unforgettable experience. Don’t miss it in 2016.
2015 – The Year of Lodi Wine
2015 was a big year for Lodi wine. In November, Wine Enthusiast Magazine
named Lodi the Wine Region of the Year
. Our region earned this prestigious award with its youthful attitude and innovation. “It’s these young people and the youthful attitude of their elders that drive the innovation pushing Lodi forward,” writes Jim Gordon, Wine Enthusiast Contributing Editor (CA), “It’s a prime reason why Lodi is Wine Enthusiast’s Wine Region of the Year.”
Several Lodi wines topped the charts and landed big awards in 2015. Oak Farm Vineyards won ‘Best of Show White’ at the California State Fair with their 2015 Albariño. Michael-David Winery nabbed the No. 2 spot on the coveted Wine Enthusiast ‘Top 100’ with their Petite Petit. These wineries and many others are responsible for Lodi’s reputation as a top tier wine region.
Cycling in Lodi
Cycling was another major highlight for Lodi in 2015. For years Lodi has been home to many annual cycling events such as CycleFest
. In May, “America’s Greatest Race” added Lodi to its list of host cities. Don’t worry if you missed it – the AMGEN Tour of California
will be back in 2016! In the meantime, new Lodi bike routes (also debuted in 2015) are available for print and download on our website. Click here
to check them out and learn more about how you can explore our region on wheels!
Lodi made some great memories in 2015. We hope that you enjoyed a happy and healthy year and can’t wait for all of the exciting things yet to come in 2016!
